NAUKOT: Torrential rains continued to lash parts of Sindh province, perishing 14 people in various rain incidents; meanwhile Army and Navy personnel arrived in Naukot and kicked off relief operation.
Outfall drains (NBOD) played havoc in Badin along with heavy rains inundating more than 100 more villages.
The Army and Navy personnel are busy shifting stranded people especially from coastal belt to safer places. The district administration has set up 142 relief camps at different points to accommodate more than 40,000 displaced people.
President Asif Ali Zardari along with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah took an aerial view of the flooded areas of Benazirabad district.
Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said Zardari directed the chief minister, who accompanied him during the visit to the flooded areas, to personally monitor the situation and ensure that the victims were given relief and properly rehabilitated.
