Over 1,000 mud houses were destroyed in Dadu due to the storm; meanwhile, Chief Minister, Qaim Ali Shah declared Shaheed Benazirabad district (Nawabshah) calamity stricken.
Rain which started in Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Khairpur, Thatta, Mipur Khas, Nowshera Feroz, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammed Khan, Badin and other areas of Thar on Wednesday continued for days.
In Hyderabad, several feet of water accumulated in low lying areas of the city. The sewage system and electricity supply to the city was severely affected and the administration was nowhere to be seen.
According to MD WASA, water could only be drained eight hours after the rain stoppage.
Seventeen people were injured in Dadu while several acres of crops were destroyed. According to DCO Mirpur Khas, the situation in canals and drains was extremely dangerous and if need be, help would be sought from the army and navy.
In Thatta several areas were inundated and people were migrating in large numbers. Meanwhile in Punjab, heavy rain continued in Dera Ghazi Khan and several areas of Khairpur district.
