KARACHI: At least one person reported killed while 15 other hurt in a hand grenade attack near Rainbow Center here on Thursday.
According to initial report, the rescue teams rushed to the blast site and started to move the injured to the hospitals while heavy contingents of the police and rangers cordoned off the area and started a search operation in nearby shops after reaching on the scene.
Some eye witnesses have informed that few motor-bike riders hurled a hand grenade near Rainbow Center and managed to escape.
The injured were shifted to various hospitals of the city. Majority of the injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital, four including a child to Civil Hospital while two severely injured persons were taken to Liaqat National Hospital.
Twelve injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital; among those are included Tanvir Khan, Anwaruddin, Alluddinn, Ahmadullah, Siraj, Younus Masih, Abdul Rasheed, Noor-ud-Din, Abdul Qadir, Azizullah, Qaim and Salahuddin.
Later on, a severely injured person Abdul Razzque, 42 succumbed to injuries while receiving medical aid in Civil Hospital.
Rainbow Center is located in the busy area of Saddar and it is the largest spot for CDs sales and rentals in the metropolis.
Salim Memon, the President of Rainbow Center, said while talking to that this attack is a wicked conspiracy against the largest CDs market of the country and as protest they will not open Rainbow Center on Friday (tomorrow).
