People of Pakistan Show Solidarity with Pakistan Army

Islamabad - Hundreds of schoolteachers, employees and students assembled at D-Chowk on Monday to express solidarity with the Pakistan Army officers and soldiers buried under the avalanche in Siachen, and to pray for their safe recovery.

The call was given by the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) to show solidarity with troops.

The participants were holding banners and placards, inscribed with slogans like “We are praying for the safety of Pakistan’s borders”, “We are praying for our army”, “Live long Pakistan Army” and “We love Pakistan Army”.

Speaking on the occasion, CADD Secretary Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said that it was not a formal function but a short call was given to the CADD employees to assemble and express solidarity with army men trapped in Siachen.

He said it was a critical time for the Pakistan Army as almost 135 officers and soldiers had been buried under an avalanche. He said the entire nation should pray for their safe recovery.

He recalled that the same kind of a calamity took place in Chile, which claimed many lives.

He appreciated the participation of people on a very short call.

“Today, there is a need to unite the entire nation and hold collective prayers for the army men,” he added. The secretary said that it was the Pakistan Army that “ensures our safety and security”.

He called on the people to untie and extend their wishes and prayers to the army officers and soldiers. He thanked all the participants and said that the camp would continue, while prayers would be held for the safe recovery of soldiers.

On the occasion, Prof Rafiq Tahir lauded the services of the army and said that troops were the ones securing the entire nation.

He also prayed for the safe comeback of army troops.

Professors’ Association President Qasim Maqsood said that the army was facing a critical situation, and the nation should extend its prayers.

He lauded the initiative of the CADD for giving an opportunity to the people to gather for a single cause, which was to pray for the Pakistan Army.

On this occasion, IPO Chairman Hameedullah Jan Afridi, Pakistan Baitul Maal Managing Director Zamurd Khan, CDA officials and other senior officials of various departments were also present
