Lyari search op strikes arms, torture cells

KARACHI: Search operation launched by the Rangers in crime corners of Lyari, has concluded, Geo News reported Sunday.

According to the sources, anti terrorism squad of Rangers and Rangers commandos cordoned off areas suspected to be infested with criminal vermin.

Afshani Gali, Eido Lane, Singho Lane, Gul Muhammd Lane areas were cleansed during the operation. Several suspects were detained as well.

A sizable cache of automatic weapons/ammunition was recovered in the course of search operation. These included nine sub-machine guns hundreds of rounds.

Rangers’ spokesman also revealed that they have found torture cells equipped with all sorts of instruments of torment.

However, the official report maybe made available to the media this evening or tomorrow in a press conference by the Rangers.

On the whole it’s being seen as a successful operation but it did ran into those hitches that are an integral part of such operations.

This time Rangers entered the area employing a different strategy as a few days ago during a drive of the same sort a mob of angry local residents had tried to block Rangers way into those no-go areas.

This time all the exits and entrances were blocked and no one was allowed to go in or out without being inquired
